Gov. Tom Corbett signed legislation sponsored by Rep. Mauree Gingrich to establish an informal dispute resolution process for long-term care nursing facilities. Act 128 will enable the facilities to use an independent agent to dispute allegations of noncompliance with federal and state regulations and fix deficiencies before it becomes necessary for costly litigation. Gingrich said the new law is a commonsense approach that will save money and help ensure patient safety.
