Representative Mauree Gingrich discusses #IWantToWork
I am a long-time supporter of services for people with disabilities. As chairman of the House Labor and Industry Committee, I deal with labor and jobs issues every day, but I am particularly sensitive to the desire of people with disabilities to work. Disability services are provided to students until they reach age 18 and/or graduate from high school. I am sponsoring legislation to provide job skills to high school students with disabilities to enable them to enter the workforce upon graduation. House Bill 400, which is now under consideration in the state Senate, would make a big difference in the lives of these young students who want to work.
