The House Appropriations Committee opened hearings on the 2012-13 budget. Committee Secretary, Rep. Mauree Gingrich (R-Lebanon), said Pennsylvania is in better financial condition as compared to many other states, but it is necessary to hold the line on state spending.

Rep. Gingrich attended Lebanon County Community Library's grand opening for Prime Time, a new program for patrons age 50 and older. The library and two others in Lebanon County, received federal grants to provide senior spaces and programs at their libraries. The programs focus on those who are newly retired or empty nesters, introducing them to new interests, hobbies, and skills.
